PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sluice driving system for opening and closing a watercourse which prevents the inertia energy of a motor from being imposed, for example, on a speed reducer of a power transmission device, by releasing the state of connection between a motor output shaft and a power transmission shaft in response to the arrival of a sluice on the bottom surface of the watercourse when the sluice is lowered by self-weight in an emergency etc. SOLUTION: In this sluice driving system for opening and closing the watercourse, a one-way clutch 12 is interposed between the motor output shaft 22 and the power transmission shaft 4 of the power transmission device 14; a motor 1 is idled by separating the driving force of the motor 1 from the power transmission shaft 4 in response to the arrival of the sluice 20 in a decent limit position by the use of the one-way clutch 12; and the addition of the inertia energy to the speed reducers 5 and 6 is prevented, to improve durability.
