PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid state catalyst for polyester polycondensation, which contains a Ti atom, an alkaline earth metal atom such as Mg, with a phosphorous atom therein and is high in storage stability and catalytic activity; to provide its production method; and to provide a method for producing a polyester using the catalyst. SOLUTION: The liquid state catalyst for polyester polycondensation, is obtained by blending an alcohol of a 1-8C monohydric and/or dihydric alcohol exemplified by methanol, ethylene glycol or the like, a titanium compound, a compound of such an alkaline earth metal as Mg and a phosphoric diester compound. The production methods for the catalyst and for the polyester produced by polycondensation of a carboxylic acid component with a diol component using the catalyst, are also provided.
