The arrangement has a support unit, and a friction body (2) seated in a retainer, which is formed in the support unit, under prestress. The body has a casing (3) that is made up of a cushion material e.g. plastic or rubber, in a section of its outer circumference. The casing extends over a part of the height of the body, and the wall thickness of the casing ranges 2 - 5 millimeter. The body has an offset which is partially filled with the material of the casing. An independent claim is also included for a friction body for a brake or clutch arrangement.
