A method for preparing an arsenic-selective resin is provided to obtain a resin impregnated with a hydrous oxide of amphoteric metal ion and capable of removing arsenic from water containing arsenic. A method for preparing an arsenic-selective resin comprises the steps of: (a) mixing a resin with at least two bend volumes of aqueous solution containing an amphoteric metal ion salt and having a metal ion concentration of 5% or more; (b) removing an excessive amount of liquid from the resin; (d) adding at least 0.3 bed volumes of an aqueous alkali metal hydroxide solution having an alkali metal hydroxide concentration of 3% or more to the resin at a rate sufficient to increase the pH of the liquid to 4 or higher in 20 minutes, while monitoring the pH; (d) adding an additional amount of aqueous alkali metal hydroxide solution to maintain the pH of the liquid to 4-12 while mixing the mixture; and (e) removing an excessive amount of liquid from the resin. |
