<p>In a washing machine with a rotating drum driven by an electric motor (7) via a belt drive, where the motor is protected against leaking or condensed liquid by a drain (8) to a base trough (9), a liquid absorber (10) in the drip region of the trough takes up the energy of the liquid drops then releases the absorbed liquid into the trough. The washing machine exemplified in a drawing is of front loading, horizontal axis type. A washing machine (1) has a belt pulley on the rotating axle of a rotatably mounting drum in a liquor container (2), operatively connected via a belt drive with an electric motor (7) (preferably in the lower region of the liquor container), the motor is protected against falling leaking liquid or liquid condensate formed in the liquor container by a drain (8) in the region between the liquor container and the motor, ensuring that the liquid is guided away to a deeper lying base trough (9) of the machine. The novel feature is that at least one liquid absorbing element (10) is located in the drip region of the trough, to take up the energy of the liquid impinging on its surface (11) and release the absorbed liquid again into the trough via its side-wall region (12).</p> |
