<p>Swimming simulator 10 comprises a frame for supporting the user's body in a prone position, and two arms (92, fig. 1) rotatably mounted on the frame, the distal end 100 of each arm bearing a rotatably connected handle, e.g. hoop 99. The frame may comprise base 12, 14 with a number of upwardly extending supports, e.g. chest 42, midriff 22 and/or leg supports 20, which may be movable relative to one another. The arms may be mechanically linked to one another by drive linkage, and simulator 10 may include rotatable chin support 50 mechanically linked to the arms by drive linkage, such that chin support 50 trains the user to turn his head at an appropriate time for breathing. Leg supports 20 may be pivotally mounted to the frame, and may be mechanically linked to the arms. Simulator 10 may include motive means, e.g. a motor (not shown), for moving the arms and/or leg supports. The arms may move in the same plane as the plane of the user, or in a plane perpendicular to the plane of the user (see fig. 4), thus allowing simulation of various strokes. Simulator 10 may include means for resisting movement of the arms.</p> |
