A method for controlling a camera system and the camera system using the same are provided to shift images electrically by an arbitrary gap in a horizontal direction or a vertical direction or in both horizontal and vertical directions during pixel addition processing, thereby taking pictures with high sensitivity and high resolution in a dark place. A method for controlling a camera system comprises the following steps of: supplying horizontal and vertical addition control signals, phases of which are controlled, to plural solid imaging devices; selecting pixel columns and rows of the plural solid-state imaging devices according to the horizontal and vertical addition control signals(a); adding plural pixel signals to each other, wherein the plural pixel signals are adjacent to each other in a horizontal direction or a vertical direction, or in both horizontal and vertical directions of the selected pixel columns and rows; and processing a luminance signal and a color signal using the added pixel signals and adding a synchronizing signal to the luminance signal and the color signal so as to output a color image signal(f~i).
