A unitary synthetic plastics retainer for locating a bolt 23 in a moulding comprises two substantially flat jaw portions 12, 13 hinged together so as to be relatively movable towards and away from one another to a limited extent, both of the jaw portions having inner facing surfaces 14, 15 formed with part-cylindrical recesses adapted to co-operatively receive the shank of the bolt and one of the jaw portions having a step 21 in its upper surface forming a straight wall against which the head of the bolt engages when the shank is located through the recesses. In the construction shown the other jaw portion also has a step 22 the two walls formed by the steps engaging opposite surfaces of the bolt head to prevent rotation of the bolt. As shown the two jaw portions are hinged together by a web 18 of resilient material joined to the outside edges of the jaw portions and extending across the upper surfaces of the jaw portions, the web being bowed towards the jaw portions in the region of the part cylindrical recesses (not shown) which engages the bolt shank. The dimensions to the web 18 are such that it is flattened slightly as it passes into the moulding and remains under stress in the moulding so as to provide a limited amount of frictional resistance to movement of the retainer along the moulding. In a modification the base of the moulding is deeper than that shown and it is provided with undercuts to receive the flanges 25, 26 of the moulding so that the base surface can rest on the support structure 27 when the moulding is secured to the support structure. In a further modification the jaw portions are joined at one end portion by a bridge. |
