A method and an apparatus for speedily entering into a menu in the idle screen of a mobile terminal are provided to shorten the path to a desired menu by displaying a screen to directly execute a function corresponding to a selected menu item in case of selecting a menu. Executing shifting between menu items of a mini bar displayed on the idle screen, a control part judges whether the input of a selection key is generated(700,705). In case that the user selects a menu item through the input of the selection key, the control part fetches previously stored screen information for the execution of the function of the selected menu item. Based on the fetched screen information, the control part configures and outputs a screen(715). In this case, when the user selects the menu item, the menu items of the mini bar are divided by taps. The control part displays a window connected to the selected menu item tap.
