PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric power steering device capable of accurately detecting a motor current without using an expensive current sensor and preventing undesired vibration effectively. SOLUTION: A motor current flowing in an electric motor M for giving steering auxiliary force to a steering mechanism is detected by a current sensor 6. The current sensor 6 employs a Hall element and indicates input and output characteristics having hysteresis. A motor current detection value Im outputted by the current sensor 6 is compensated by a motor current compensation valueΔIm to perform feedback control of the electric motor M based on a motor current detection value Im' (=Im+ΔIm) after compensation. The motor current compensation valueΔIm is variably set in accordance with increase tendency or decrease tendency of the motor current detection value Im and a target current value I of the electric motor M.
