A heat resistant sheet containing inorganic fibers, characterized in that among the inorganic fibers, a rate of a fiber(s) with a fiber length of 200 µm or less is 40 % or less, is provided. An exhaust gas cleaning apparatus comprising an exhaust gas processor, a maintenance seal member comprising a heat resistant sheet as described above which is wound around an least one portion of a peripheral surface of the exhaust gas processor except an aperture face thereof for use thereof, and a metal shell for accommodating the exhaust gas processor around which the maintenance seal member is wound, is also provided.
