The textile cable 3 has its filaments 4 spread out and impregnated with resin to form a truncated bung 2. The angle of the bung is less 'than that of the sleeve 1. At no tension the large diameter end only of the bung 2 engages the sleeve 1. As the tension increases the bung 2 distorts to allow an increasingly large part of the bung 2 to contact the inner surface of the sleeve 1. The difference between the two apical angles is less than 5‹ and is preferably close to 1‹. The bung 2 may be of epoxy resins and polyesters and may be reinforced with materials such as textile fibres, especially glass fibres. The cable 3 may be of synthetic textile materials (polyamides, polyesters, polyolefines are quoted). |
