The invention relates to a method for checking temperature values of a temperature sensor of a combustion engine, according to which a first temperature actual value (TEMP1_STOP) is recorded during a first predetermined length of time at an ending of the operation of the combustion engine. A second temperature actual value (TEMP1_START) is recorded during a second predetermined length of time during an operating state reflecting the starting of the combustion engine. A turn-off length of time (TA) of the combustion engine is determined between the ending of the operation of and the subsequent starting of the operation of the combustion engine. In addition, a temperature set value (TEMP1_S) is established based on the first temperature actual value (TEMP1_STOP) and on the turn-off length of time (TA). An error (ERR) of the second temperature actual value (TEMP1_START) is recognized based on the second temperature actual value (TEMP1_START) and on the temperature set value (TEMP1_S). |
