A sound reproduction device is disclosed comprising, within the same unit, two high frequency speakers (30, 32), a single low frequency speaker (34),two stereo amplifiers (24, 26) for amplifying signals for the two high frequency speakers, a mono amplifier (28) for amplifying signals for the low frequency speaker, and means (18) for feeding stereo signals to the stereo amplifier and a corresponding mono signal to the mono amplifier. As low frequencies are not used by the human ear for direction finding (and low frequency amplifiers typically have a higher power consumption). This allows the reproduction of full frequency high fidelity stereo sound, while minimising the power consumption. The sound reproduction unit may include a connector unit (22, 90) for connecting the device to an external audio device or mobile phone. |
