The appliance has a cutter part (3) with blades and a counterpart (4) with forcer (5) to press the onions etc. through the cutter part. The part has a container (6) fastened to it detachable via a bayonet lock (7) etc., on the side away from the counterpart, to hold the cut onions. The container is of transparent material. The forcer has recesses (8) corresponding to the blades, with a depth which is pref. larger than the height of the blades.
