The pivot has a central core constituted of thermosetting resin matrix in which fibers e.g. radio opaque fibers such as glass fibers, are embedded. The core is wrapped by a sheath, where the sheath is free from the fibers and is made of radio opaque substance such as aluminum oxide, barium oxide, tungsten oxide and strontium oxide. The sheath contains silicon compound such as 3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl methacrylate and vinyl trimethoxysilane. An independent claim is also included for a method of manufacturing a tooth pivot.
