The machine comprises a saw which can be moved (hydraulically) in both the horizontal and vertical direction, the circular saw-blade being used to make cut parallel to or in an existing road surface next to the verge, and a milling device for cutting away the edge of the road surface, leaving a trench which can be filled with a reinforcing material such as asphalt, gravel, the cutting/milling debris and/or RONA composite verge blocks.
