[MEANS OF SOLVING PROBLEMS] An optical filter characterized by containing at least one kind of tetra-acenaphtoporphyrin compound. The tetra-acenaphtoporphyrin compound has its absorption maximum in a 530nm-570nm wavelength region, and a ratio between an absorption coefficient at 525nm and that at 550nm is preferably at least 1.2. Also, a ratio of light transmittance at 550nm to that at 525nm is preferably up to 85%. [EFFECTS] The optical filter can eliminate unnecessary light mainly existing in a 520nm-700nm region and is excellent in durability. A display unit using this optical filter can improve "contrast in a bright location", and improve "color purity of luminescent color".
