An air conditioner is provided to prevent liquid refrigerant filtration into a compressor, and to improve stability and credibility by calculating average temperature from temperature of a first refrigerant flowed into the compressor from an indoor heat exchanger and temperature of a second refrigerant flowed into the electronic expansion valve, and lowering an opening degree level of the electronic expansion valve when the average temperature value is larger than the first refrigerant temperature. An air conditioner comprises an indoor heat exchanger(3), a compressor(2), an outdoor heat exchanger(1), an electronic expansion valve(5) and a microcomputer(4). The indoor heat exchanger evaporates refrigerant with low temperature and low pressure. The compressor compresses gasified refrigerant. The outdoor heat exchanger condenses and liquidizes the refrigerant transferred from the compressor. The electronic expansion valve expands the refrigerant. The microcomputer performs liquid compression prevention function controlling the electronic expansion valve by calculating average temperature from temperature of a first refrigerant flowed into the compressor from an indoor heat exchanger and temperature of a second refrigerant flowed into the electronic expansion valve, and lowering an opening degree level of the electronic expansion valve when the average temperature value is larger than the first refrigerant temperature.
