The invention relates to a method of synthesising a catalyst for the production of multiwalled nanotubes, comprising the following operations consisting in: mixing a powder of Al(OH)3 with a particle size of less than 80mum in an aqueous solution of a cobalt or iron salt, such as to form a paste; drying the paste until a powder is obtained with a moisture content of less than 5 % by weight; and selecting the particle-size fraction that is less than 70mum.
