There is provided a semiconductor device comprising a plurality of function blocks, and a select signal generation circuit for supplying a select signal to function blocks to be operated among the plurality of function blocks. A clock generation unit in the function block is supplied with a select signal and a system clock, generates a control clock based on the system clock during a period when the select signal is supplied and stops generation of the control clock during a period when the select signal is not supplied. A dynamic circuit provided in the function block does not operate when the select signal is not received and the control clock is not given. When the select signal is received, the control clock is given and a predetermined function is executed by repeating precharge and discharge for each clock cycle, thus consuming power.
