There is provided a communication system capable of searching information relating to a communication device not registered in a network by specifying time. The search method can be executed in a search system including a plurality of communication devices, a gateway, and an article-management server. The article-management server accumulates an identifier of a communication device reported from the gateway in a storage device while correlating it with a report time. The article-management server receives the identifier of the communication device and the specified time from a mobile terminal. The article-management server searches for the identifier stored in the storage device at the specified time and specifies the position information on the gateway corresponding to the identifier contained in the search request.
