A method for producing a metal-clad laminate, which comprises a first step of subjecting a metal sheet (4) to pressure bonding with a thermoplastic liquid-crystalline polymer film (2) between heating rolls (5, 5), wherein a heat expansion coefficient (EL) in the longitudinal direction, a thickness (T), a thickness coefficient (F) and an anisotropy coefficient (G) of said polymer film satisfy the formula: EL = FT + G, and the thickness coefficient (F) is in the range of-0.08 to-0. 01, and wherein the anisotropy coefficient (G) is in the range of +6 to + 10 to the heat expansion coefficient(EM) of said metal sheet and a heat expansion coefficient in the transverse direction (E T) of said polymer film is in the range of-2 to +3 to the heat expansion coefficient(EM) of said metal sheet, and a second step of subjecting the metal-clad laminate prepared in the first step to a heat treatment at a treating temperature of the melting point of the thermoplastic liquid-crystalline polymer film or lower. The above method can be suitably used for producing a metal-clad laminate being excellent in the anisotropy, appearance, adhesion with the metal sheet, and dimensional stability at a low cost.
|
