The proposed method for determining minimal distance to a target by a pulse-modulated radar consists in transmitting a pulse radio signal towards the target, receiving the pulse signal reflected from the target, and determining the distance by the length of the time interval between the transmitted and received signals. The proposed method is distinctive by that, for the purpose to extend the measurement range, the transmitted pulse signal is generated as a sequence of pulses, the last of which differs from the preceding pulses, determining the time interval (t) between the instant of the transmission of the pulse signal and the instant of the reception of the last reflected pulse in the pulse sequence. To determine the distance (D)/ the following equation is used: D = c?(t/2), where c is the velocity of light.
