An image projecting apparatus is provided to reduce thickness and perform the magnification by reducing the length of light path by a second curved mirror generating a negative light output. An image projecting apparatus includes a projection optical system unit(PU). The projection optical system unit guides the image light emitted from an optical modulation device to project the image light on a projection surface, and includes a constant output optical system(PS) which has an optical opening and a constant light output, and a curved mirror optical system which has at least a first curved mirror(MC1) and a second curved mirror(MC2) reflecting the light reflected by the first curved mirror. The first and the second curved mirrors are arranged for the light path through, which the reference ray proceeds to the first curved mirror, crossed with the light path through which the reference line leaves the second curved mirror. The reference ray is a ray of the image light which proceeds from the center of the display surface of the light modulation device through the center of the light opening to the center of the projection surface. The second curved mirror has a concave reflecting surface.
