The invention relates to the field of ferrous metallurgy, in particular to the construction of the shaft furnace of direct reduction of oxides. A shaft furnace for direct reduction of iron oxides contains a mouth for loading of the material, zone of material heating, which is made in the form of a cut cone with widening to the bottom and which has nozzles for reduction gas supplying, zone of material reduction, which is made in the form of cut cone with widening upwards and which also has nozzles for reduction gas supplying, zone material cooling in the form of cut cone, converging to the bottom, and also gas channels and outlet for removal of the reduced material which are disposed in the furnace walls and are connected with nozzles. A furnace is equipped with the facilities of inhibition of the reduced material, placed athwart to each other and above each other, respectively, in the zone of heating and reducing of the material, each of which represents a hollow beam, at that the cavity of each beam is connected with the gas channels, and on the lower shelf of the beam in its middle part slot are made. The mentioned beams can have the section in the form of isosceles triangle or rhombus with the definite intervals of angle values, that are located opposite to the loading zone. The invention provides increase furnace output at simultaneous increase of the quality of the reduced iron.
