A hologram recording method, a hologram recording apparatus, a hologram reproducing method, and an optical recording medium are provided to obtain a reproduction image with very low unnecessary exposure and an excellent S/N(Signal to Noise) ratio. A light source(70) irradiates a coherent beam. A spatial light modulator(76) spatially modulates the coherent beam inputted by the display of a pattern, and generates a signal beam and a reference beam. A PC(92) displays the pattern for dividing a modulation area into a plurality of modulation areas to the spatial light modulator(76) so that a signal beam area for generating the signal beam and a reference beam area for generating the reference beam are symmetrically disposed for an optical axis of the coherent beam. An optical system simultaneously irradiates the signal beam and the reference beam generated from the signal beam area and the reference beam area in the same axis to a reflective-type optical recording medium.
