A toner having high strength magnetite is provided to use a less amount of magnetite so as to decrease research and development, and processing costs, and decrease time to launch. A toner comprises a high strength magnetite in an amount of about 10 to 20 weight percent, wherein the magnetite comprises a material selected from the group consisting of FeO, Fe2O3, Fe3O4, gamma iron oxides, cobalt-gamma iron oxides, and mixtures thereof. The magnetite comprises gamma iron oxide having Fe3O4 as a core material, or cobalt-gamma iron oxide having Fe2O3 as a core material. The amount of the magnetite is about 12 to about 14 percent by weight of total solids. The magnetite has a high coercivity of about 400 to 1,000 Oe.
