A fluorescent lampholder comprising an L- shaped insulating body 11 with a lamp-engaging limb 23 and base portion 21 is mounted on a thin panel 5 by sliding the edges 63 of an opening formed in one edge of panel 5 into slots 47 formed in limb 23 and extending along its side faces 46. The slots 47 taper in height inwardly of faces 46 to accommodate panels of different thicknesses. Spring contacts 13 are held in a recess 19 in limb 23 by an insulating closure cover 15 fastened to the rear of body 11 by a clip 17, and mating lamp pin contacts are guided into recess 19 through an entry slot 41. The forward portion of base 21 is bisected by a recess 93 and also has a transverse slot 78 which may be engaged by an L-shaped tongue 71 struck out from panel 5, so providing additional security of mounting. Alternatively, slot 78 may contain a nut threaded to co-operate with a screw passing down through a hole in the panel 5 and through recess 93 (Fig. 10, not shown). |
