An elevator door has a landing door and a car door. The car door has a car door displaceable between a paralleled-door position in which the car door is parallel to the landing door and a displaced-door position in which the car door is more on the door opening side than the paralleled-door position by a predetermined distance relative to the landing door. When the car door is in the displaced-door position, the landing door and the car door are moved together while being engaged with each other. An operation member is placed between the car door and the landing door. The operation member is displaceable between a projected position in which the projection member is projected from an end section on the door closing side of the elevator door toward a door closing direction and a receded position in which the operation member is positioned more on the door opening side than the projected position and is received between the car door and the landing door. When an elevator doorway is totally closed by the landing door, the car door is displaced between the paralleled-door position and the displaced-door position. A displacement device displaces the operation member to the projected position when the car door is at the paralleled-door position and displaces to the receded position when the car door is at the displaced-door position.
