摘要 <p>Making a powder material for hydrogen storage comprises: making a metallic composite material by co-fusion, followed by cooling; and hydrogenating the material, followed by fragmentizing the material into powder form. The material comprises: a first metal mixture (I) i.e. an alloy (A1) (having cubic centered crystalline structure) of metals e.g. titanium, vanadium and/or chromium; and a second mixture (II) i.e. an alloy (A2) of a metal (M1) e.g. zirconium, and a metal (M2) e.g. nickel. Preparing a powder material for hydrogen storage comprises: preparation a metallic composite material by co-fusion followed cooling the material; and hydrogenation of the material by converting at least part of metals into metal hydrides, followed by the fragmentation of the material in to powder form. The metallic material comprises: a first metal mixture (I), which is an alloy (having cubic centered crystalline structure) (A1) of metal e.g. titanium, vanadium, chromium and/or manganese; and a second mixture (II), which is an alloy (A2) of a metal (M1) at 38-42 mol.% e.g. zirconium, niobium, molybdenum, hafnium, tantalum and/or tungsten, and a metal (M2) at 56-60 mol.% e.g. nickel and/or copper or the M1 or M2 in free form. The weight ratio of (II) to the sum of (I) and (II) is 0.1-20 wt.% during co-fusion. Independent claims are included for: (1) a composite metallic material obtained by the process comprising a large phase containing titanium, vanadium, chromium and/or manganese dispersed in the form of grains and an intergranular phase containing (A2); and (2) a powdery material (particularly excluding hydrides) obtained by the process.</p>
