The invention relates to a belt bag for a machine gun (1), comprising two bag parts (23; 41; 43; 45) which can be locked together when in the position of use in order to form a bag, and when in the position of non-use, can separated from each other thereby releasing a tracking area and then are connected together again along a hinged area. One part of the bag part (23) can be pivoted. The invention is characterised by the fact that the bag part (23) is made of a rigid material and can be fixed to the machine gun (1). The invention also relates to a machine gun (1) provided with said type of belt bag.
