<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a covering thickness control method of an extrusion-covered cable in which fluctuations of the covering thickness can be suppressed smaller even if there are fluctuations in outer diameter of a cable core. <P>SOLUTION: A pre-covering outer diameter measuring tool 2 to measure the outer diameter of the cable core 12 before entering an extruder 3, and a post-cooling outer diameter measuring tool 6 to measure the outer diameter of the extrusion covered cable 13 after going out of the extruder 3 and passing a cooling vessel 5 are installed. The covering thickness T1 is obtained by subtracting a measured value D1 of the pre-covering outer diameter measuring tool 2 from the measured value D2 of the post-cooling outer diameter measuring tool 6 at the same point of the running cable core. A screw revolution number is reduced so that the covering thickness T1 will approach a target covering thickness T in the case it is larger than the target covering thickness T, while the screw revolution number is maintained as it is when it is the same as the target covering thickness 1 and a control to increase the screw revolution number is carried out so that it will approach the target covering thickness T when it is smaller than the target covering thickness T. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
