PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner capable of minimizing drain water received in a water pan to prevent generation of slime and water leakage. SOLUTION: In this air conditioner comprising the water pan 2 for receiving the drain water condensed by a heat exchanger 3, a pump 1 for discharging the drain water to the outside of the air conditioner, and a control means for controlling the pump, the drain pump is a vacuum pump, the large vacuum pump can be used as the drain pump, as the drain pump is disposed at an outdoor unit side, further the drain water generated in a cooling or dehumidifying operation can be discharged without accumulated in the water pan, thus the generation of slime can be surely prevented, and further the drain pump can be shared in a multiple room type air conditioner connected with the plurality of indoor units, thus the similar effect can be obtained at low costs.
