PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pipe replacing method capable of narrowing a groove route gap with a replacing pipe newly replaced with an existing pipe. SOLUTION: A replacing pipe part 3 in the middle of the existing pipe is cut off, and a first existing pipe 1 and a second existing pipe 2 are left. Clearance quantities 8 and 9 are measured by arranging a dummy pipe 7 of imitating a shape of the replacing pipe between the first existing pipe 1 and the second existing pipe 2, and a dimension of the dummy pipe 7 is copied in the replacing pipe 10 by a dimensional original drawing 11 of the dummy pipe 7. Edge preparation of the replacing pipe 10 is performed on the basis of a dimension of the dummy pipe 7 and the clearance quantities 8 and 9, and groove welding is performed by arranging its replacing pipe 10 between the first existing pipe 1 and the second existing pipe 2.
