PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording system with which the status of an event to be recorded near the present time can be grasped at all the time. SOLUTION: In the recording system, a recording work picture 51 is displayed which is constituted of a time chart screen 52, an event status icon 53 and a recording list screen 54. In the time chart screen 52, a time chart 55 is displayed which is constituted by time-sequentially arranging recording time zone information 55a indicating the recording date/time, recording material length and the like of the event to be recorded. The event status icon 53 is constituted of a reduced time chart display part 57 for reducing the time chart 55 and a status display part 56 indicating the status of a video tape recorder.
