PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus employing a region-divided reading type imaging element wherein the image quality of a composite image can be enhanced. SOLUTION: An image signal processing apparatus improves the image quality of a composite image by including: a black level correction means for keeping the black level of image signals outputted from a plurality of output terminals of the imaging element to a setting value; an AD conversion means for applying A-D conversion to a plurality of output signals from the black level correction means; a dummy read means for detecting a dummy level from an image signal outputted from the A-D conversion means; a signal difference correction means for correcting a signal difference outputted from the A-D conversion means; and a control means for observing the dummy level detected by the dummy read means and determining the setting value of the black level applied to the black level correction means so that the dummy level is not temporally varied.
