PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a servo writer by which it is not needed to rewind a magnetic tape into an intial state when the magnetic tape having a writing error of a servo signal is reused and to provide a manufacturing method of the magnetic tape using the same. SOLUTION: The servo writer 1 is provided with a first write head 51 having a first flange 51b in slide-contact with an edge EG of the magnetic tape MT on one side in a width direction of the running magnetic tape MT and writing the servo signal in the magnetic tape MT, a second write head 52 having a second flange 52b in slide-contact with an edge EG of the magnetic tape on the other side in the width direction of the running magnetic tape MT and writing the servo signal in the magnetic tape MT and a switching device 10 switching the first and the second writing heads 51 and 52 so that one of the first and the second writing heads 51 and 52 comes in slide-contact with the running magnetic tape MT.
