An information processing device and a control method are provided to enable an operator to efficiently process font setting by setting the font used for a new input character if the character is inputted to a character string in which font information for each character is set. An obtainer(901) obtains the font information of the first/second character arranged to before/after the inputted character. The first setting part sets a font type to font type setting information used for the inputted character if the font information of the obtained first/second character includes the same font type. The second setting part executes syntax analysis for the character string including the inputted character and sets the font type information used for the inputted character based on a syntax analysis result if the font information of the obtained first/second character includes the different font type. A determiner determines a state of a flag indicating presence of buried font settings included in the font information of the obtained first/second character. An executer executes the first or second setting part by setting the flag to on/off based on a determination result.
