PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a traverse driving unit of a parking system, which facilitates maintenance inspection operations etc. because it can be installed in an elevator hoisting/lowering passage, and which can shorten a vehicle entrance/exit time. SOLUTION: This traverse driving unit 21 for a vehicle mounting base 16, which is mounted in an elevator-type parking system 1, comprises: a first arm 23 which is pivotally supported on at least either of the front and rear of the elevator hoisting/lowering passage 3 in such a manner as to be rotatable in a vertical plane; a second arm 24 which is pivotally supported on the leading end of the first arm 23 in such a manner as to be rotatable in a vertical plane; an engaging member 25 which is arranged at the leading end of the second arm 24; and a member 34 to be engaged, which is arranged on the base 16, and which can be engaged with/disengaged from the engaging member. Both the arms are mutually counterrotated by setting the rotational speed of the second arm 24 twice higher than that of the first arm 23.
