PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for activating, by an activating unit utilizing magnetism, a fuel oil used in ship engines and/or large-sized motor vehicle engines such as of trucks and buses to accomplish economical fuel consumption-reducing effect. SOLUTION: The method for activating a fuel oil by magnetism comprises the following practice: The fuel oil 2 reserved in a fuel tank 1 is pumped by a pump 3, introduced into a pipe 5 installed in the magnetic field of the activating unit 4 utilizing magnetism and conveyed through the pipe 5, thus activating the fuel oil 2 followed by returning the activated fuel oil 2 into the fuel tank 1 again. By repeating the fuel oil-circulating operation, the activity of the fuel oil 2 in the fuel tank 1 is gradually enhanced, and the fuel oil 2 with its activity enhanced enough is fed via a pump 6 to an engine 7.
