The cylinder has a step cylinder (2) and a step piston (1), where an annular space (3) is enlarged and shortened during movement of the piston. A return valve is guided into the space and another return valve is guided from the annular space into a pressure space (6) in which the pressure is pulsed during relative movement of the piston. The pressure space is set under rising pressure when the desired pressure is obtained. The maximum and minimum pressure control takes place by lifting a suction valve and by operating the piston in case of driving over another cylinder and path regulation.
