<p>A composite seal has a first seal member (6) disposed in a seal groove (2) on the outer peripheral side and formed of an elastic member and also has a second seal member (8) disposed in the seal groove (2) on the inner peripheral side and formed of a harder material than the first seal member (6). The first seal member (6) has a lateral projecting part (12) projecting radially inward from the radially inner side of the generally intermediate part in the thickness direction of the first seal member (6). The second seal member (8) is formed in a generally squared U-shape cross-section by flange parts (14, 16) located at both ends of the second seal member (8) and by a generally linear inner wall portion (18) connecting the flange parts (14, 16) to each other. When the first seal member (6) and the second seal member (8) are integrally assembled together, a space (20) is secured between the lateral projecting part (12) and the generally linear inner wall portion (18) of the second seal member (8).</p> |
