<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser induced liquid jet generator capable of irradiation of a more intensified laser beam without receiving thermal effects of the laser beam if a thin catheter is used and being used for a long period of time, and safe for both patients and operators. <P>SOLUTION: The laser beam is emitted from a laser irradiation part 4 of an optical fiber 2, to which the laser beam from a laser oscillator is guided, toward the liquid inside a liquid introduction part 6 filled with a prescribed liquid W to absorb the laser beam, so that a jet stream J is generated in the laser induced liquid jet generation device. The liquid introduction part 6 is composed of a jet generating tube part 11 in which the laser irradiation part 4 is stored for generating the jet stream J, and shielding means 12A and 12B for shielding the outside of the jet generating tube part 11 against the optical and thermal effects of the laser beam emitted from the laser irradiation part 4.
