PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent superfluous driving pulse signals from being fed into a stepping motor in initialization operation when the drive of the motor is controlled without the use of a position sensor or the like, in a rotary driving device that uses the stepping motor as a driving source. SOLUTION: When initialization operation is performed in the rotary driving device that uses a stepping motor as a driving source, the following procedure is taken. The stepping motor is driven in a predetermined rotation direction. When it is driven by one-phase excitation and a backflow current is not passed through windings of non-excitation phases, terminal voltages of the windings of non-excitation phases are measured and an induced voltage generated between the windings is computed. The computed induced voltage is compared with a predetermined reference voltage value to determine the rotating state of the motor. When it is determined that the motor is in a predetermined stopped state, the rotation direction is reversed based on a predetermined number of driving pulses. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
