SHIELD EXCAVATION MACHINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve watertight performance of a shield excavating machine by raising bearing pressure between a sealing member and a mounting face. SOLUTION: The shield excavation machine comprises a bulkhead 5 provided near the front end of a shield body 3; a bearing part 7 provided penetrating the bulkhead 5; a rotating shaft 10 rotatably supported to the bearing part 7 and having a cutter 2 at the front end; the mounting face 30 formed at one of the bearing part 7 and the rotating shaft 10; a sliding contact face 31 formed at the other of the bearing part 7 and the rotating shaft 10; and an annular sealing member 24 mounted in pressure contact with the mounting face 30 and brought into sliding contact with the sliding contact face 31 to seal.
