PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the operability of the operation for increasing the gripping force by a gripping plate in the plate vise device of a printing machine. SOLUTION: The gripping plate 12 and a vise stand 11 are provided with a first hole 12b and a second hole 11b, through both of which a shaft member 18 is inserted. The vise stand 11 is provided with a first recess 11c communicating with the second hole 11b and stored with an engaging piece 18a of the shaft member 18, and a second recess 11d communicating with the first recess 11c and engaging with the engaging piece 18a. An abutting member 21 is screwed with the first screw part 18c of the shaft member 18 and an operating member 20 is screwed with the abutting member 21. By means of a hexagonal wrench engagingly inserted in the second inner hole 20c of the operating member 20, the shaft member 18 is pressed in towards the direction indicated with an arrowhead A and, through its pivoting by 90°to one direction, the engaging piece 18a engages with the second recess 11d. Further, through the turning of a nut member 20 towards one direction with the hexagonal wrench, the abutting member 21 screwed with the first screw part 18c also turns towards the one direction and shifts towards the direction indicated with the arrowhead A.
