A solid oxide fuel cell having a fuel pole and an air pole attached to a solid oxide electrolyte is arranged inside a combustion exhaust gas path of an engine or the like (fuel cell containing unit), i.e., located in a flow of high-temperature combustion exhaust gas introduced into the fuel cell containing unit and discharged to an exhaust gas discharge unit, so that the solid oxide fuel cell is heated by the thermal energy of the combustion exhaust gas and the carbon hydride and the carbon oxide contained in the combustion exhaust gas are used as a fuel gas for generating electric power.
