A method for the production of polyether-alcohols from diamino- or triamino-1,3,5-triazine derivatives, e.g. melamine, and cyclic carbonates involves reaction in the absence of catalyst. A method for the production of polyether-alcohols by reacting compounds of formula (I) with cyclic carbonates of formula (II) at 110-250[deg]C in a mol ratio of (I):(II)= (1:1)-(1:100), involves carrying out the reaction in the absence of a catalyst. R 6>-R 9>H, 1-15C alkyl or alkoxycarbonyl; R 5>H, 1-15C alkyl, or aryl or amino; R 1>-R 4>H or 1-10C alkyl . Independent claims are included for (1) polyether-alcohols obtained by this method (2) a method for the production of polyurethanes by reacting polyisocyanates with these polyether-alcohols .
