PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aluminum alloy sheet for battery case being suitably used for a rectangular lithium ion battery case, which has excellent strength and creep characteristics and also excellent drawing and ironing properties and to which sealing treatment by laser welding can be applied and in which an increase in the thickness of the case at charge/discharge cycles can be suppressed. SOLUTION: The aluminum alloy sheet comprises >0.4 to <0.8% Mn, 0.2 to 0.8% Mg, >0.7 to 1.20% Cu and the balance Al with inevitable impurities, wherein the total content of Mn, Mg and Cu is made to 1.4 to 2.6% and further the contents of Si, Fe and Zn as the impurities are controlled to≤0.3%,≤0.4% and <0.2%, respectively.
